THE OBJECT OF THE SHED is to advance and promote the mental and physical health and wellbeing of its members.
This is done by providing a productive and inclusive space to:
a. actively keep members engaged;
b. alleviate social isolation;
c. provide health and wellbeing information to men who may otherwise not access or seek it;
d. enable members to pursue hobbies, pastimes and interests;
e. learn new skills, practice and pass on old skills;
f. contribute to the community, their families, friends and the Shed.
g. mentor younger men.
Members range from skilled crafts-men, to men who are using tools or taking on an activity for the first time. The shed is what you make of it and you can bring along your own project or help others with theirs. You can spend as much or as little time at the shed that meets your own needs.
There are days when some members play cards (not too serious) and also Mahjong. Other social activities include Trivia, Bingo nights etc. where the club helps towards the cost of the meals. Our social area is there for you just to sit, talk, read the paper or just have a coffee.
SPEAKERS. We have guest speakers regarding mental and physical health, as well as on ageing, and ongoining issues like getting an Enduring Power of Attorney and advanced health Directive.
The following is a list of some of the many activities provided for at the shed.
